Caring for Manheim’s Pets Since 1952

White Oaks Veterinary Hospital has been part of the Manheim community for more than seventy years. What began in 1952 as the Awkerman Veterinary Clinic has grown alongside the families and pets we serve today.

Dr. Loy Awkerman and his wife, Rose, first brought veterinary care to Manheim after Dr. Awkerman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. In those early years, the practice cared for cows and horses during the day and dogs and cats in the evenings. After relocating to our current Lebanon Road property, a small pavilion was converted into the clinic that would eventually grow through several expansions over the following decades.

In 1977, the hospital transitioned to an exclusively small animal practice. In 1995, Drs. Ron and Lauren Lane purchased the practice and renamed it White Oaks Veterinary Hospital, inspired by the beautiful white oak trees that still surround the property today.

Today, our hospital continues to honor that history while providing modern veterinary care for dogs and cats throughout Manheim and the surrounding Lancaster and Lebanon County communities.

The White Oaks Difference

Thoughtful medicine, lasting relationships, and a commitment to our community guide everything we do at White Oaks Veterinary Hospital.

A Practice Built on Community Trust

For generations, families throughout Manheim and the surrounding communities have trusted White Oaks Veterinary Hospital with the health of their pets. That history is something we’re proud of — and something we work every day to continue earning.

Veterinary Leadership Rooted in Family

Since 1995, the practice has been owned and led by a husband-and-wife veterinary team, Drs. Ron and Lauren Lane. Their shared leadership has helped maintain the hospital’s commitment to thoughtful medicine, consistent standards of care, and strong relationships with the families we serve.

Board-Certified Expertise in Canine & Feline Practice

Dr. Lauren Lane is one of only a small number of veterinarians in Pennsylvania who is board-certified through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in Canine and Feline Practice. This distinction requires advanced case documentation, rigorous examination, and recertification every ten years — a reflection of continued dedication to clinical excellence.
